What is Polygon?

Polygon (previously Matic Network) is the first well-structured, user-friendly Ethereum scaling and infrastructure development platform. Polygon SDK, a modular, flexible framework that supports the development of various types of applications, is its main component.

Polygon can be used to create optimistic rollup chains, ZK rollup chains, stand alone chains, or any other type of infra that the developer requires.

Polygon successfully converts Ethereum into a full-fledged multi-chain system (aka Internet of Blockchains). This multi-chain system is similar to others such as Polkadot, Cosmos, Avalanche, and others, but it benefits from Ethereum’s security, vibrant ecosystem, and openness.

The $MATIC token will live on and play an increasingly important role in securing the system and enabling governance.

Polygon (previously known as Matic Network) is a Layer 2 scaling solution supported by Binance and Coinbase. The project aims to increase cryptocurrency adoption by addressing scalability issues on multiple blockchains.

Polygon is a blockchain architecture that combines the Plasma Framework and proof-of-stake. Polygon’s Plasma framework, which was proposed by Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin, enables the simple execution of scalable and autonomous smart contracts.

Who are the founders of Polygon?

Polygon (previously Matic Network) debuted in October 2017. Jaynti Kanani, Sandeep Nailwal, and Anurag Arjun, two experienced blockchain developers and a business consultant, co-founded Polygon.

Prior to launching its own network in 2019, the Polygon team was a significant contributor to the Ethereum ecosystem. The team worked on Ethereum to implement the Plasma MVP, the WalletConnect protocol, and the widely used Dagger event notification engine.

Jaynti Kanani, co-founder of Polygon, was part of the team. Polygon is currently led by Jaynti, a full-stack developer and blockchain engineer.

Jaynti was instrumental in the Ethereum implementation of Web3, Plasma, and the WalletConnect protocol. Jaynti previously worked as a data scientist for Housing.com before getting involved with blockchain.

Sandeep Nailwal, Polygon’s co-founder and chief operations officer, is a blockchain programmer and entrepreneur. Sandeep was the CEO of Scopeweaver and the chief technical officer of Welspun Group before co-founding Polygon (formerly Matic).

Polygon’s only non-programming co-founder is Anurag Arjun. He has worked as a product manager for IRIS Business, SNL Financial, Dexter Consultancy, and Cognizant Technologies.

Where can Polygon be traded?

If you’re wondering where to buy Polygon at the moment, the top cryptocurrency exchanges for trading Polygon stock right now are Binance, BTCEX, OKX, BingX, and Bybit.
