Survey Junkie

What is Survey Junkie?

Survey Junkie has long been considered one of the best market research firms. The platform has over 10 million members, high ratings from real app users, a “Excellent” Trustpilot rating, and a low $5 minimum cash-out.

Survey Junkie stood out for having one of the largest inventories of surveys, which means you can earn on your own time rather than waiting to be sent an opportunity.

Unlike some survey sites, Survey Junkie only offers surveys and web browsing as ways to earn rewards. The platform is simple to use and offers several options for cashing out points. However, because not all surveys are mobile-friendly, computer users have access to more surveys than mobile app users. Users who do not complete Survey Junkie’s personal questionnaire are provided with fewer survey opportunities than those who do.

About the Company

  • Survey Junkie is an online platform that pays users for taking digital surveys.
  • Reward points earned with Survey Junkie can be redeemed for gift cards for popular brands or transfers to your PayPal account.
  • You can take Survey Junkie surveys on your computer or your favorite mobile device at any time of the day or night.
  • Signing up with Survey Junkie is 100% free.

How Survey Junkie Works

DISQO, Survey Junkies’ parent company, is hired by hundreds of brands to collect consumer insights and data on their behalf. Survey Junkie merely facilitates the collection of that information.

Survey Junkie’s platform is divided into two sections: SJ Opinion and SJ Pulse.

SJ Opinion

SJ Opinion is the platform’s survey component. Users fill out a user profile, and Survey Junkie matches the data to the criteria required by the various surveys. Users earn points for completing surveys, which can be converted into cash payouts.

SJ Pulse

In exchange for points, SJ Pulse tracks users’ web browsing activities. Users must opt in to SJ Pulse and install a browser extension to earn those rewards due to privacy laws. Users can participate in the SJ Opinion community without being a member of SJ Pulse. SJ Pulse members, on the other hand, are eligible for exclusive surveys and benefits. SJ Pulse is not yet available on iOS devices, but it is being developed.

Surveys and Browsing

There are only two ways to earn points and payouts from Survey Junkie: taking surveys and allowing Survey Junkie to track your online browsing, searching, and shopping habits via SJ Pulse. SJ Pulse may be an easy way for users who don’t take web privacy seriously to earn some extra points in addition to completing surveys. All data collected by Survey Junkie is encrypted before being sent to the parties conducting the research.

Points do not appear to be awarded based on the estimated time to complete a survey or the number of questions. Some surveys may not be worth the time spent by users. Spending 20 minutes to earn a few cents may not be a good use of your time.

Points Value

Each user point is worth one cent. So 500 points are worth $5, which is the bare minimum for users to cash out. It’s not a bad sum of money for users who meet this bare minimum by taking surveys and browsing the internet.

Users who earn more than $600 in a calendar year will receive a 1099 tax form.

Mobile App

The Survey Junkie mobile app has a simple interface and allows users to do many of the same things they can on a computer. The app’s main disadvantage is that surveys are limited on mobile devices because many of them are not mobile-friendly.

Many surveys are not available on the mobile app, limiting the earning potential of users who only use their smartphones to complete surveys. While a mobile device is useful for completing surveys while on the go, home users may want to use a computer to find the best survey opportunities.

Who Survey Junkie is Best For

Paid to answer questions may sound too good to be true, but Survey Junkie is as genuine as they come. Indeed, the company has received mostly positive feedback from nearly 25,000 Trustpilot users.

Still, keep in mind that taking surveys on Survey Junkie will not make you rich. This is the best option for:

  • Busy people who want to earn gift cards or PayPal cash in their spare time
  • Anyone who has several hours to kill a few times per week, such as during their child’s sports practices or piano lessons
  • Parents who are building up rewards they can use for Christmas gifts or birthday presents
  • People who want to do something mindless while they watch television or relax

Many of their surveys pay as little as $0.50, and you may be eligible for no more than $10 in surveys in any given week. When taking surveys at the lower end of the pay scale, you might only make $1 to $4 per hour, which isn’t much.

Survey Junkie is a “side hustle” rather than a part-time job. It’s also a poor choice for people who need consistent side income because you may not be eligible for every survey.
